The recent floods caused by the Krishna River and Budameru Canal have devastated Vijayawada, with the city experiencing its worst flooding in over three decades. ISKCON Vijayawada, located on the banks of the Krishna River, was severely affected.

 

Despite having an 8-foot retaining wall and the temple being elevated 5 feet above ground level, the river's water level rose by 10 feet, inundating the ground floor and temple hall within just half an hour. Our dedicated team managed to evacuate essential items, but the floodwaters caused significant damage, destroying 30% of our book inventory, 50% of our gift stall stock, and the entire BHISMA office. The estimated loss exceeds 50 lakh INR.

Despite this devastation, our commitment to serving the community remains strong. We have continued our relief efforts by distributing 25,900 food packets, 8,000 packets of milk, 10,000 water bottles, and thousands of grocery kits worth 20 lakh INR. We appreciate the support we have received and remain hopeful for a swift recovery.
